KNX BMS

A modern building management system (BMS) incorporating KNX technology provides a fully integrated solution for controlling both comfort and safety systems within a building. In this installation, the BMS manages underfloor heating alongside automated window control, delivering optimal thermal comfort while maximising energy efficiency. The system is enhanced with a weather station that continuously monitors environmental conditions, including rain and wind. When the sensors detect adverse conditions, such as strong winds or precipitation, the KNX logic automatically closes the windows, protecting the interior environment without requiring user intervention. The underfloor heating is similarly regulated through KNX, allowing the system to maintain precise temperature settings in each zone, responding to occupancy and external temperature variations, ensuring both comfort and energy savings. Despite being fully automated, the system retains flexibility through local manual override. Occupants can temporarily take control of windows or heating settings at the local interface for a period of 30 minutes, after which control seamlessly reverts to the automated system. This approach balances automation with user convenience, giving occupants the ability to respond to immediate comfort needs or specific situations while maintaining overall system efficiency. All components are integrated via the KNX network, providing a unified platform for monitoring, control, and data logging. The combination of automatic responses to environmental conditions, intelligent heating management, and temporary manual override ensures that the building operates efficiently, safely, and comfortably at all times.
